Two employees of a North Carolina school district were taken into police custody after they were accused of pawning school property. One of the women is a 25-year-old teacher at a Caswell County alternative school, while the other is a 46-year-old principal at Bartlett Yancey High School. Both women were accused of selling several pieces of Caswell County Board of Education property to the same local pawn shop.

According to investigators, authorities were first alerted to theft when they learned that the alternative school teacher was pawning school property. Upon further investigation, authorities determined that other property belonging to the school system was also being sold. Police say that one woman pawned three computers, and the other woman pawned an iPad and a computer.

As a result of the investigation, the teacher was charged with one count each of felony larceny and felony embezzlement. She was held on a $2,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Caswell County District Court on Feb. 11. The principal was handed seven counts of felony embezzlement. She was held in custody on a $15,000 bond, and her hearing was scheduled to take place on Feb. 18.
